The World’s Most Expensive Casinos

The world’s most exclusive casinos offer high stakes and high luxury. From Vegas to Monaco and Singapore, opulent suites, spas and fine dining accompany roulette wheels and blackjack tables.

Traditionally, casino gambling has provided a predictable long-term advantage to the house. Some games, however, have a skill element. In these, players may make a short-term profit that exceeds the house edge. These players are referred to as “advantage players.”

In modern casinos, security is usually divided between a physical security force and a specialized surveillance department. The latter operates the closed circuit television system, known as a “eye in the sky.” The two departments work together to protect patrons and assets.

Casinos often feature live entertainment. The iconic Caesars Palace Las Vegas, for example, drew luminaries like Frank Sinatra to its Circus Maximus showroom and is now home to a lineup that includes Celine Dion, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Cher, and Mariah Carey.

Casinos are also found on Native American reservations, where they aren’t subject to state antigambling laws. These casinos are often smaller than those in Las Vegas, but they can still feature hundreds of slot machines and many table games. The most notable of these is Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut. It has over 4.7 million square feet of casino space.
